The 2026 Nakuru Agricultural Show officially kicked off today, marking the beginning of five days of exhibitions, innovation, and business networking as members of the public streamed into the showground to explore a wide range of exhibition stands.

‎‎The opening day also saw exhibitors receive recognition in various competition categories, setting the pace for the annual event.

‎‎This year's edition has recorded a notable increase in the number of new exhibitors, reflecting growing interest in the agricultural exhibition. At the same time, several stands that had previously remained dilapidated or unused have been renovated and occupied by new exhibitors, giving the showground a fresh and vibrant appearance.

‎‎Meanwhile, the first day, designated as Business Day in the official show calendar, registered a relatively low turnout of visitors compared to the expected numbers later in the week. However, the modest attendance allowed exhibitors ample time to organise their displays, interact with potential partners, and prepare for the larger crowds anticipated in the coming days.

‎‎Speaking during the opening day, Nakuru Agricultural Show Chairperson Dr Perminus Migwi explains that Business Day is specifically designed to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurs, investors, and aspiring business owners to establish partnerships and explore commercial opportunities before the grounds become busier.

‎‎He notes that the first day of the show is dedicated to creating networking opportunities for business people and those seeking collaborations, adding that it serves as a platform for meaningful engagements that can translate into long-term partnerships.

‎‎Additionally, he expresses optimism that the networking sessions would open up new markets and strengthen existing business relationships.

‎‎Traffic at the showground is expected to rise significantly on Thursday, which has been designated as Farmers' Day.
