In an approach to youth engagement, Trinity Chapel Nakuru has introduced an annual prom night event aimed at attracting and connecting with young people, particularly college students. The initiative, which began three years ago, has steadily grown into a key highlight of the church’s youth outreach calendar.

‎‎According to Pastor Nathaniel, the idea to launch prom night was inspired by the need to create a relatable and welcoming environment for young people within the church setting. While many churches traditionally rely on crusades and conventional evangelism methods, Trinity Chapel Nakuru sought a different path.

‎“This is our form of evangelism,” he explains, noting that the goal was to bring young people together in a space where they feel comfortable and engaged.

‎‎Moreover, the prom night is carefully designed to appeal to young people.

‎As a result, the event blends entertainment with meaningful interactions. For instance, attendees enjoy good music played by a DJ, alongside lively hype sessions that keep the atmosphere vibrant and energetic.

‎‎In addition to entertainment, the event incorporates interactive discussions, which are central to its mission. Participants are grouped into tables of about ten people, where guided conversations take place.

‎These discussions cover a wide range of topics, including life, relationships, and faith, thereby encouraging openness and deeper connections among attendees.

‎‎He highlights that prom night features engaging activities such as the selection of a prom king and queen, where participants are evaluated not only on their appearance but also through thoughtful questions. This approach, in turn, promotes confidence and self-expression among the youth.

‎‎Importantly, he notes the initiative has had a significant impact on changing perceptions about church among young people. Many youths often view church as boring; however, this program challenges that notion by offering a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment.

‎‎Looking ahead, the church remains committed to continuing the prom night annually as part of its broader outreach programs.

‎‎As Pastor Nathaniel emphasizes, with a constant influx of young people, the event will remain a vital platform for engaging the next generation.
