In the game of politics, every move is made with purpose, with an end goal towards something, and in this deceitful game, nothing is a coincidence.

This week, Nakuru has played host to a number of national leaders, the most notable one being the Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki.

On February 18, the second in command, together with Governor Susan Kihika and Cabinet Secretary for Lands Alice Wahome, were in Maai Mahiu to issue title deeds to the 105 families who lost their homes in the 2024 Maai Mahiu flash floods.

The objective of the forum was pure; wherever two or three politicians are gathered, politics must be discussed. One minute we are talking about the initiative by the lands department, the next, politics takes center stage, with chants of “tutam” reverberating in the air.

As it has become a custom, in many meetings convened by politicians, as the meeting ends, “watu lazima wapangwe hapa na pale,” just to lift the spirits.

Then followed the Cabinet Secretary of Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, who came for a development tour of Naivasha County, an engagement initiative aimed at reinforcing security and improving service delivery.

They inspected the ongoing dualling of the Rironi-Mau Summit Road in Naivasha.

He was accompanied by Governor Susan Kihika, IG Douglas Kanja, and other county leaders.

In the past couple of months, DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has held several engagements in Naivasha, the latest one being a rally that was organized in Kinamba in Naivasha Constituency.

Ever since he announced his Nakuru County tour on the February 27 and 28 the political temperatures in the county have been at an all-time high.

The DCP faction promising what will be the mother of all rallies, sentiments that were shared by Dr Peter Mbae, Gachagua’s point person in Nakuru.

He went further to even place a billboard informing the people of the tour and welcoming the Former Deputy President to the voter-rich county.

Apart from this, a heated exchange of words has been witnessed between Kihika and Gachagua over his impending visit.

Critics have termed the visit by the government officials as a tactic to try and neutralize the opposition’s visit, especially in Naivasha, where the DCP faction have pitched tent over the course of the past year.
