Two suspects linked to the murder of PCEA Tabuga parish clergy Rev Julias Ndumia were Saturday arrested by the Police.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation in a statement published on its official social media pages confirmed the arrest which they said followed an intense forensics and intelligence led investigation by detectives from the Homicide Unit, (CR&IB), (OSU), and officers from Nakuru North.

They were found in possession of valuables belonging to the deceased.

‎‎"The attacker's broke into the church office and Reverend's residence, stealing cash and mobile phone among other values," reads part of the report.

‎‎‎‎The report further noted that the security guard at the church Benard Nyamwaka, was seriously assaulted and hospitalized.

‎‎Police say the suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation as detectives pursue more leads linked to the killing that occurred on the night of May 3, 2026, at PCEA Tabuga Church premises in Nakuru North Sub-County.

‎‎Investigators added that advanced forensic analysis is ongoing as detectives review crucial evidence believed to point to a wider criminal network behind the attack.

A detective familiar to the case who did not want to be mentioned notes that the suspects were arrested in Nakuru and are not members of the church.

" Tracing the phone signal that went live days after the murder we were able to zero down on one suspect who later led us to the second one, " they note.

‎Rev Ndumia’s lifeless body was discovered at his residence within the church compound on Monday May 4, in a pool of blood, shocking residents and members of the clergy across Nakuru County.

‎‎The postmortem examination which was conducted by government pathologist Dr Titus Ngulungu revealed that the clergy was strangled.

‎‎The killing sparked outrage among religious leaders, with clergy in Nakuru condemning the murder and calling for improved security for churches and ministers.

‎‎The DCI also condemned the killing, describing it as a senseless and violent act, while assuring the public that all individuals involved would face the law.

‎‎The arrest comes days after a postmortem examination revealed that Rev Ndumia died due to asphyxia, a condition caused by severe oxygen deprivation.
